Joyita Mandal - INDIA'S FIRST TRANSGENDER JUDGE

Joyita mandal is amongst few transgenders who has achieved a respected status after stuggling hard throughout their Life. Joyita was appointed the judge of Lok adalat (Civil court) in July this year.

Joyita was born in Kolkata. She dropped out of school after 10th as she was facing difficulty in adjustment with her family and society owing to her identity as a transgender.
Joyita came to Dinajpur and never went back. In her initial years, She had to struggle a lot. Apart from going to child birth and going to marriages, she  worked for rights of people who were facing social discrimination. She slept on bus stand and begged. She faced lot of abuse. But finally She earned a respectable position for herself. Her struggle made her a social worker. She has completed her studies through correspondence in Law.She formed an organization known as 'Dinajpur Notun Alo society' to help the people of her district. Apart from this She also started an old age home for people who are considered as burden. She organised free Health check ups and camps for needy people.
Joyita is an inspirational strong women. She stood focused towards her goal in her difficult times. Most of us loose hopes and blame on fate in such critical circustances but her enthusiasm and attitude has proved that transgenders are not lesser than anyone. Joyita wants to spread awareness to educate transgenders, so that they also have equal status and live a respectful life.
